Resources for the California Standards Test
On Saturday, March 31, the Science Olympiad was held at McNair High School, where many schools in the Stockton area competed. Principal Kathryn Byers and Assistant Principal Mary Lou Rios are happy to announce that the Hazelton Elementary 4-6th grade Team, coached by Mr. Balderston, competed against some of the highest scoring teams in the area and were able to outperform them. The Hazelton team won eight (8) medals and took top honors for the day. Mr. Balderston also earned the Best Coach Award. Congratulations to Hazelton’s Olympiad team for their performance, and congratulations to Mr. Balderston for a great job in preparing his team.
Hazelton has two parents of the month as recognized by the district. Congratulations! Thank you for all you do!

Many thanks to our awesome ACT Team Booster Club parent volunteers! Angela Imperial (right) , Angel Martinez-Ruiz (left), and Carmen Andrade(not pictured) have spent countless hours organizing fundraisers for students to offset their field trip and camp fees, hold monthly parent meetings to keep families informed of what’s happening at school, and put on an awesome fall carnival. Angela and Angel are always on hand to help in any way the teachers may need. We couldn’t do it without you!

The winning "Got Milk?" poster from Hazelton K-8 was on display at a board meeting along with other winning school entries. Participating students were presented awards during the board meeting. Posters from selected schools, Hazelton being one (shown above), will be used in a district wide advertising campaign for the 2011-2012 school year. Congratulations to Shabman Behin, Celeste Buesrostro Ruiz and Karina Ballesteros, designers of the Hazelton poster.
